Product Description
olimpIQ silicone rubber is a two-component (base and catalyst) RTV2 addition-cure (platinum) silicone rubber that vulcanizes at room temperature. It is a product specifically designed for professional and hobbyist mold makers who need to reproduce details down to 2–5 microns. The product’s standout property is its remarkable flowability.
Key Features and Benefits
- High chemical resistance to aggressive components found in certain types of resin.
- Extremely high tear resistance (this characteristic guarantees excellent wear resistance).
- High precision reproduction of very fine details.
- High dimensional stability over time and resistance to deformation.
- Remarkable resistance to high temperatures and aging.
- Excellent non-stick effect.
Applications
- Mold and model making (thanks to remarkable reproduction precision, high dimensional stability, and high mechanical strength).
- Artisanal ceramics (thanks to remarkable reproduction precision and high mechanical strength).
- Sanitary products (thanks to remarkable reproduction precision and high mechanical strength).
Instructions for Use
- Before use, we recommend homogenizing both components to avoid settling. Stir each of the two components (base and catalyst) before use.
- All surfaces that come into contact with the material must be perfectly clean, grease-free, and dry.
- Weigh equal amounts of catalyst and base (e.g. 100 grams of catalyst and 100 grams of base; within a 3% error margin, the final result is not affected). Exact 1:1 ratios must be maintained to achieve correct working times and to preserve the final product characteristics.
- Once the components have been weighed and confirmed equal, place both into a container and mix thoroughly. During mixing, make sure no residue remains on the bottom or sides of the container.
- Mix vigorously until the product reaches a uniform color. Once mixed, pour the silicone preferably from a height of 30 cm in a thin stream.
- It is recommended to vacuum degas the mixture to remove any air bubbles.
- If the amount used is less than what is needed to complete the duplication, finish the pour and then continue adding the required additional silicone (within 24 hours of the first mold curing). The new silicone will bond to the existing silicone without affecting the final result.
- Once vulcanization is complete, you can separate the model from the mold. If necessary, use compressed air to facilitate separation. Do not force separation with sharp objects, as these can deform the mold details.
Working Time, Cure Time, and Compatibility
At the optimal temperature of 25°C, the working time is 30–40 minutes from the start of mixing, and the cure time (time required for vulcanization) is 3–4 hours. Working time and cure time are reduced if the temperature exceeds 23°C (e.g. at 40°C, working time is halved and cure time is approximately halved as well). If the temperature is below 23°C, both working time and cure time increase considerably (e.g. at 4°C, working time doubles and cure time increases approximately three times compared to the times indicated at 23°C).
The silicone rubber is compatible with all composites, coatings, polyurethane resins (which may degrade the silicone more rapidly than other composites), and acrylic resins.

Storage, Safety, and Warranty
- olimpIQ silicone rubber is guaranteed for 18 months when stored correctly at a temperature between 5°C – 27°C (42°F – 80°F).
- Close containers after use; do not swap lids between the base and catalyst.
- This preparation is not considered hazardous in accordance with Directive 88/379/EEC and subsequent amendments.
- Safety data sheets and first-aid measures are available on the marmura-lichida.ro website.
