Silicone Mould Making, Addition Cure, Shore A15, RTV2 Platinum, 2kg Kit

Product Description
olimpIQ silicone rubber is a two-component (base and catalyst) addition-cure (platinum) RTV2 silicone rubber that vulcanizes at room temperature. It is a product specially created for professional and hobbyist mold makers who need to reproduce details down to 2–5 microns. The product’s primary characteristic is its remarkable flowability.
Key Features and Benefits
- High chemical resistance to the aggressive components found in certain resin types.
- Extremely high tear strength (this characteristic guarantees outstanding wear resistance).
- High accuracy in reproducing very fine details.
- High dimensional stability over time and resistance to deformation.
- Remarkable resistance to high temperatures and aging.
- Excellent non-stick effect.
Areas of Application
- Mold and model making (thanks to remarkable reproduction accuracy, high dimensional stability and high mechanical strength).
- Artisan ceramics (thanks to remarkable reproduction accuracy and high mechanical strength).
- Sanitary products (thanks to remarkable reproduction accuracy and high mechanical strength).
Instructions for Use
- Before use, we recommend homogenizing both components to avoid sedimentation. Stir both two-component parts (base and catalyst) before use.
- All surfaces that the material comes into contact with must be perfectly clean, grease-free and dry.
- Weigh equal amounts of catalyst and base (e.g. 100 grams of catalyst and 100 grams of base; within an error margin of 3%, the final result is not affected). The exact 1:1 ratio must be respected in order to achieve correct working times and to avoid altering the final properties of the product.
- Once the product has been weighed and you have confirmed that the base and catalyst are equal, place both components into a container and mix thoroughly. It is important to check during mixing that no residue remains on the bottom or walls of the container.
- Mix vigorously until the color of the product becomes uniform. Once the product is mixed, pour it preferably from a height of 30 cm in a thin stream.
- It is recommended to degas the mixture under vacuum to eliminate air bubbles.
- If the quantity used is less than what is needed to complete the duplication, finish the pour and then continue by adding (within 24 hours of the first mold curing) the additional silicone required. The new silicone bonds to the old silicone without altering the final result.
- Once vulcanization is complete, you can separate the model from the mold. If necessary, use compressed air to facilitate this separation. It is important not to force the separation with sharp objects that could deform the mold details.
Working Time, Cure Time and Compatibility
At an optimal temperature of 25°C, the working time is 30–40 minutes from the start of mixing, and the cure time (time required for vulcanization) is 3–4 hours. The working time and therefore the cure time are reduced if the temperature exceeds 23°C (e.g. if the temperature is 40°C, the working time is halved and the cure time is approximately halved). If the temperature is below 23°C, both the working time and the cure time increase considerably (e.g. if the temperature is 4°C, the working time doubles and the cure time increases threefold compared to the times indicated at 23°C).
The silicone rubber is compatible with all composites, coatings, polyurethane resins (these can affect the silicone much more rapidly than other composites) and acrylic resins.
