Soy Wax for Mould Candles – Kerax KeraSoy Pillar 4120

KeraSoy Pillar is a 100% natural soy wax in flake form, made in the United Kingdom by Kerax. It is specially designed for mould candles (pillar, votive, tarts, decorative candles) and wax melts. This wax is engineered to shrink slightly on cooling, allowing for easy release from moulds. Being predominantly a blend of soy wax and other natural waxes, it requires no additional additives and is extremely easy to use, making it ideal for beginners too. Each batch may have a subtle creamy-white tone due to its natural origin.

100% Natural & Vegan
Biodegradable, made from renewable resources. Contains no animal-derived products and is not tested on animals (cruelty-free).
Ideal for Moulds & Wax Melts
Formulated to shrink in moulds, ensuring an easy, clean release without needing special additives.
Reusable & Easy to Use
Old or partial candles can be re-melted. Offers an excellent finish and easy integration of dyes and fragrances.

Technical Guide for Makers

  • Preparing Moulds: Moulds should be clean and dry. We recommend using them at room temperature or lightly preheating to approx. 45-50°C for optimal results. Avoid copper or zinc moulds.
  • Choosing a Wick: ECO or TCR wicks are recommended. Natural waxes usually require thicker wicks than paraffin. Adjust wick size according to diameter, fragrance and colourant. Keep the wick trimmed to 5mm.
  • Adding Colour: Heat the wax to 75-80°C for flake dyes or up to 80°C for liquid dyes, dissolved powder or blocks. Mix well until fully dissolved. A touch of black dye can be added for richer tones.
  • Adding Fragrance: Supports a dosage of 5-10% (recommended 6-10%). Add the fragrance at a temperature between 60°C and 80°C, just before pouring, and mix evenly. Use fragrances designed specifically for natural wax.
  • Melting, Pouring and Cooling: Melt the wax avoiding exceeding 85°C. Pour at 50-65°C. Cool candles undisturbed at room temperature (~25°C). If needed for very large moulds, a second top-up pour can be done before the candle cools completely.

Quality, Recommendations and Storage

Specification Details / Compliance
Origin & Sustainability Made in the United Kingdom. The manufacturer aims to source non-GMO soy wherever possible on the market.
Recommended Equipment Stainless steel or mild steel utensils are recommended. Avoid copper and zinc. Use digital thermometers.
Storage Conditions Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, excessive heat and moisture.
Re-melting & Reuse Leftovers or partial candles can be re-melted. Avoid heating above 85°C or holding at high temperatures for long periods.

Professional Tip: Curing Time and Testing

Let the poured candle cool undisturbed at room temperature for a minimum of 48 hours before unmoulding, trimming the wick or carrying out your first burn tests. This resting period is essential for the vegetable blend structure to stabilise and to achieve a clean burn, free of soot or tunnelling.
